Here's What's New!

Spring Break took on a new meaning for Horse Creek when the students from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, spent theirs with us!

The Alternative Spring Break program at Appalachian State is diverse and offers 22 different trips from their college under the organization Appalachian Community Together.  Students who choose to go on alternative spring breaks do not receive any college credits.  They do it for the joy of helping.

While here, they helped us with our SPRING CLEANING at the Dog Villa, including...

Raking leaves....

Pulling weeds....

Filling holes in the dogs’ exercise areas....

Indoor spring scrub-down....

In addition to helping us out with a lot of hard work, our dogs had a great week.

Lots of walks were given....

Lots of hugs and kisses were shared....

Even a few spring baths were included....

These 11 people have lifted our spirits and brightened our days.  Their motto is from Mahatma Gandhi:  “I shall pass through this world but once.  Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now.  Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”

Thank you, our new friends, for passing our way....
