ZZ, along with her two sisters, arrived at Horse Creek on December 24, 2009.  We believe these girls are probably Labrador retriever mixes.

We were informed by shelter workers that these puppies were found during a severely cold period fighting for survival near some garbage dumpsters.  Someone had placed cardboard boxes and food out for the pups, but it would not have been enough to keep them alive during those long, cold winter nights.

When ZZ arrived she had a slight limp to one of her rear legs, so we took her in for some x-rays.  The veterinarian discovered that her leg was broken, but it was a very clean break and the bones were staying aligned to heal back perfectly straight.  He advised us to let the leg heal without putting her in a splint.  She is getting better every day.  She doesn’t seem to favor that leg at all now.

ZZ and her sisters play, eat and sleep!  They love to explore the exercise areas outside and enjoy spending time with our volunteers.

The three girls look very similar.  ZZ has the least white and she is a little smaller than her sisters are—that’s how we tell who’s who.  All are very sweet and trusting and deserve a better life than how they started in this world.
