Ruby arrived at Horse Creek from the shelter on April 9, 2008. We believe that Ruby is a Cairn terrier - or a Norfolk terrier – or maybe a mix of one of these. Ruby was a little shy at first, but she came out of her shyness once she realized we were not going to do anything to hurt her. Ruby was examined by our veterinarian and tested for heartworms. She was negative for heartworms, but positive for Ehrlichia, which is a tick-borne disease. She had to take antibiotics for several weeks, but that is all behind her now with no lasting effects. She has received her vaccinations and was already spayed when we rescued her. Ruby has bad knees on her back legs, a problem seen frequently in this area due to inbreeding and attempting to make dogs smaller. She can live a full, happy life—she just doesn’t need to be a sled dog! Ruby is ready to find a home with a family that will love and care for her always! She deserves it! |
