QUEENIE

Queenie’s estimated birthday:April 1, 2000

Estimated Weight: 48 lbs.

Queenie is a precocious pointer mix with adorable markings. Queenie came to us from the Animal Shelter on May 10, 2001. Queenie has had a few bumps along the way, like we all do. Shortly after arriving, she had an infection in her eye--probably caused by being hit on the head.

Queenie got over that hurdle, and she started feeling much better and having a great time. But then she started to have seizures-very infrequently, but seizures, nonetheless. We did all the appropriate testing, and there is no definitive reason for the episodes. They just happen to some dogs. Queenie is on medications to control these seizures.  The medicines are not expensive, but they absolutely MUST be administered twice EVERY DAY.

Queenie has developed a side-effect of her medications, which is weakness in her back legs which can be painful if not managed with medication. Sometimes she gets in a hurry and falls down.  She can only have very short walks, but she treasures them.  She definitely still has a quality of life and has many more good days than bad ones.

Queenie gets so excited for attention that she will run in circles swinging her tail like a weapon! After a few minutes of realizing she has the attention, she calms down and is an angel.

Queenie has been with us for a long time. We have become very attached to her, and she doesn't remember another life. Our dream for her would be an understanding family who would give her the opportunity she deserves in exchange for a lifetime of loyalty, gratitude, and love. She is very special.
