OSA

Osa’s estimated birthday:

April 17, 2006

What's in a name? See below!

Osa arrived at Horse Creek on October 17, 2007.  She had been spotted wandering in some open fields for several days.  She was rescued by a very caring lady and taken to the animal shelter.

Osa, a beautiful Walker Hound, had obviously been living in the woods for some time.  She was very thin and undernourished.  She was examined by our veterinarian and tested for heartworms.  She was heartworm positive.  She has undergone treatments for her heartworms and had to remain inactive for 60 days.  While going through this, Osa was spayed (she was in the very early stages of pregnancy in addition to all her other distress!) and has received her vaccinations.

Osa is ready for adoption! She has come through some pretty tough circumstances and has requested that we find her a home where someone will care for her and love her forever.

Osa was named in tribute to Search and Rescue K-9, OSA, who served at the World Trade Center following the September 11th terrorist strikes on America. You can read her story in Dog Heroes of September 11th by Nora Kilgore Bauer.
