Elmer arrived at Horse Creek on February 2, 2010.  YES—he is a Basset Hound!  Who would toss away a gorgeous full-blooded dog?  You would be surprised how many pure breed dogs are abandoned!

Elmer’s legs are a little more crooked than they should be for a Basset Hound.  According to our veterinarian, this is probably due to malnutrition as a puppy.  Good nutrition for a puppy is important in the development of strong bones and muscles.

Elmer has entropion (eyelids that turn in) and he will undergo a simple surgery to correct this problem.  This surgery is very non-invasive and he should recover quickly and without too much discomfort.

Elmer is extremely sweet and plays great with other dogs.
He has a great personality—to go with his good looks!  He will make a great companion to a loving family!
